City of Knoxville fires 2 employees for stealing from dump
News

The City of Knoxville has fired two employees for stealing from the city dump.

The terminations came after an investigation at the Solid Waste Management Facility on Elm Street in North Knoxville.

Waste Facility Manager David Newman and Foreman Teddy Stout were accused of removing items dropped off at the facility's dump pit and then taking them for personal use.

"Accountability matters at all levels of local government, and stealing, regardless of how minor, is unacceptable," said Public Service Director David Brace. "This incident is unfortunate but is a good example of the City taking swift action when policy violations are reported."
