KPD: Teen suspect in birthday shooting arrested


(WBIR) Authorities have arrested a teenager who police said shot another teen on his birthday earlier this summer in northeast Knoxville.

Knoxville Police Department said it, along with the U.S. Marshall's Service, located the teen suspect Thursday morning near a restaurant on old Broadway in north Knoxville.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office is investigating after someone painted graffiti on several buildings at Halls High School.

Stabbing suspect dies after being shot by deputies


(WBIR) Elijah Jackson, a stabbing suspect who was shot by Knox County sheriff's deputies Friday morning, has died from his injuries.

Crews tear down Broadway Sound


A piece of north Knoxville history will soon be completely gone.

Crews are in the process of tearing down a building that has stood at the corner of Broadway and Edgewood avenues for more than a hundred years. The building has been home to Broadway Sound since 1969. For the last 45 years, the music store sold instruments and offered lessons at the north Knoxville location, just across the street from WBIR's studios.

Woman escapes serious injury when SUV slammed into porch


Three people are being checked out at a local hospital after an SUV slammed into a home in North Knoxville Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened just before 5 pm.

According to the Knoxville Fire Department, a man driving a Ford Explorer somehow lost control while driving on Edgewood Avenue. He went off the road, and headed directly for a house.

Broadway Sound building will soon be history


A building that's stood on the corner of Broadway and Edgewood Avenue in North Knoxville for more than a hundred years will soon be history.

Demolition crews will start Tuesday tearing down the old Broadway Sound building. It's been home to that music business since 1969. (And a good neighbor to the WBIR studios!)

Officials to investigate unauthorized assisted living home


(WBIR-Knoxville) An elderly woman is in a burn unit following a house fire. It happened at 7:30 this morning on McCroskey Avenue in North Knoxville. The Knoxville Fire Department said despite what the original call indicated, they later discovered the house wasn't being used as a residence.
