GPS leads to stolen car, suspects in carjacking case

Two juveniles are facing charges after a reported carjacking in north Knoxville.

Police say a woman reported a possible carjacking at 4454 North Broadway at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. She told officers she was sitting inside her vehicle in the parking lot when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside asked her for directions.

Assault suspect runs from officer, hides under bed

Officers said a suspect hid under a bed in his mother's house to escape police during a chase in north Knoxville.

An officer said he saw Orlando Glass, 18,, who was wanted on several warrants, walking on Hiawassee Avenue. When the officer tried to approached Glass, he said the 18-year-old ran off. After a brief chase, the officer said Glass jumped into a vehicle. Glass then jumped from the vehicle and ran into his mother's house on Hiawassee Avenue, according to a Knoxville Police Department release.

Lawsuit: Halls teacher's aide abused student

Family starts fire in closed-off fireplace

(WBIR) A Knoxville family who wanted to use their fireplace to warm up Saturday, found themselves in a dangerous situation. Luckily no one was hurt in the incident, but emergency officials are using the opportunity to remind everyone about fire safety.

Officials said the family renting a home on the 600 block of Radford Place didn't know the fireplace had been renovated and covered at some point.

Historic home in North Knoxville to move

The Knoxville Historic Zoning Commission has approved a potential home owner to move a house from Baxter Avenue in North Knoxville to Oklahoma Avenue.

Laurence Eaton would like to buy the recently renovated, one-story Queen Ann cottage house and move it to 119 E. Oklahoma Avenue in the Old North Knoxville neighborhood.
