33rd Annual GREEKfest is underway

Every year the flavors of GreekFest call out to the tastebuds of East Tennesseeans.  This year is no different!

The 33rd annual event is already in full swing at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church on Kingston Pike.  Authentic food, delicious pastries, live music, elaborate costumes and the dancing... all add up to one family favorite event.

Walking (or Running) for a Good Cause

Walking (or Running) for a Good Cause

The fall weather is here and that makes running or walking (I'm strictly a walker if you don't know) much more comfortable.  Want to run or walk AND support a great cause at the same time?  You are in luck.  Knoxville has many 5K run/walks in the next few weeks that support great causes.  Here are just a few you can choose from:

The Duck Duck Goose fall-winter sale is underway in West Knoxville.

What started in a backyard with a few tents is now one of the largest consignment sales in the area.

Shoppers can browse gently used clothing and toys for their little ones. More than 20,000 shoppers are expected.

The event runs through Sunday at the Old Goody's Warehouse near West Town Mall.

Second half strikes again; Vols lose to Gators at Neyland

Second half strikes again; Vols lose to Gators at Neyland

Right up until the second half Saturday night, the incredible momentum that energized Knoxville for the past week seemed like it might be enough to carry the Tennessee Volunteers to a victory against the Florida Gators for the first time in eight meetings.

The Vols were up 14-10 in front of a sell-out crowd of more than 102,000.

But then the 2nd half happened to a team that's had some memorable 2nd half meltdowns in the past few years.

Then the Gators scored 27 points.

If you're looking for a hotel room for the big Tennessee-Florida game this weekend, expect a small number of availabilities for a big cost.

"Look for anything online," said Alan Avriett, a Florida fan coming to Rocky Top. 10News met Avriett and his brother, Scott, a Vols fan, as they were driving to town. "There was nothing less than $300, and I said that's not going to happen, because we're staying three nights," Alan added.

East Tennessee Gator fans gearing up for big game

It's clear that Tennessee fans are ready for the big game this weekend, but so are Gator fans, especially those living in East Tennessee.

"(It's) a lot of fun because everybody wants to argue, and everybody wants to fight, and I always get to have the last word 'cause we win 90 percent of the time," said Eric Oakes, a Gator fan who delivers mail in the Farragut area.

Most days, he says he wears a Florida shirt and baseball cap. And he's always sporting his Gator tattoo.
