Knoxville Police have identified a man who was found dead on the side of a road in north Knoxville at about 5:30 a.m. Friday.

Investigators said Dennis Harold Littlejohn, 44, of Knoxville, had been stabbed multiple times. A driver saw his body in the yard of a home at the intersection of Buffat Mill Road and Brice Street. He did not live at the home.

Knoxville Police Department spokesperson Darrell DeBusk said there are still many unanswered questions.

"Part of the investigation is to find out when he got here, how he got here, how long he had been here," said DeBusk. "Of course the autopsy will help in deciding how long the individual had been dead."

An autopsy was performed Friday afternoon, and investigators are interviewing Littlejohn's friends and family.

Crews took the body to the forensic center for an autopsy.

Littlejohn was wearing a black, gray and white patterned hoodie and gray pants. Knoxville Police ask that anyone who may have seen the victim or any type of suspicious activity overnight in the Buffat Mill Road area is asked to call the crime information line at 865-215-7212. Callers can remain anonymous.
